“Crap!” you say as you peak at your phone calendar reminder. “That brunch thing is tomorrow!?! WTF!”
Ok miss, don’t panic, don’t worry, don’t stress. In desperate need of knowing how to accessorize that perfect brunch outfit? Your lifeline is right below.
There are those jewelry pieces you will only wear once or twice a year. Then, there are the ones you put on every single day before you dash out the door. You know this jewelry well, and it knows you. And, it fits for almost every occasion on your busy schedule.
There are, of course, those in-between occasions were your destination is too fancy for errand running, but not as formal as attending the ballet. Yes, I speak of the dreaded BRUNCH PARTY…dun dun duuunnn!
Brunch is a difficult occasion to dress for because you are eating two distinct meals at once. I mean, do you show up in your breakfast attire wearing overly casual sweatpants and tank top? Or, are you supposed to debut your recently purchased Spring cocktail dress for quiche, potatoes and mimosas?
Not to mention, how in the world do you accessorize for brunch?!?
Jewelry styles to wear to a brunch party
Believe me when I tell you, I have been where you are! I showed up to brunch with some friends after church wearing black gingham capris and fuchsia high heels while my gang o’ friends sported cargo pants and camisoles. To my horror, I SERIOUSLY overdressed. Ok, lesson learned and I will do better next time. But, what I can tell you is, true to form, my jewelry was seriously up for the occasion in its simplicity and casual style. And yours can be too!
When attending a cute and Anthropologie-esque brunch (or any outdoor event), keep your jewelry to a minimum and minimal. Meaning, mix a few pieces that are easy to wear and not too flashy. I would say brunch and weekend outdoor activities are times where you don’t have to spend a dime to dress the part. Simply going into your current collection and selecting a few metal options will do you perfectly.
Unless you are the glitzy type of girl who would rather set fire to her Manolos than go without her statement necklace (and you know you’re out there, you pretty thing), I would much rather see you in something understated versus trendy.
V-neck tees and high-neck sweaters are tailor-made for showing off a stack of fine metal necklaces. Layer two or three chain and pendant necklaces of various lengths for an effortlessly cool vibe.
Elevate casual outfits with a few basic fine metal bangles. They add structure to a look, helping you appear put together even when you’re in a tee.
Add a dash of color with gemstone stud earrings as an easy option. Smaller studs around the 3mm mark are especially on-trend.
Rings – if applicable
Stacking multiple pieces is the way to go. Stackable rings look especially chic when you incorporate a couple of midi rings, which are made to fit at the middle of the finger.
So, given this super easy formula to live by, how comfortable are you to march to your jewelry box and face that brunch date head on? I know you are; but most importantly, you know you are.
