Does your necklace speak to the use of the outfit? Does your necklace speak to the occasion or outing of the out? Is a minimal necklace to understated for the opera? Is a statement necklace to ostentatious for a black tie wedding? The best answer of whether choosing a minimal or statement necklace is simply asking yourself “where am I going?”
There are exceptions to this rule. For example, if you are heading to a seated outdoor event, your necklace to go either way. A minimal pendant necklace looks best at a champagne brunch, which I talk more about here. A statement necklace would not work at an outdoor concert where you are looking to fist pump and sweat.
